But China likes to surprise!
mago

New York? No Chongqing! China’s third largest city with over twelve
million inhabitants(thirty two million if you count the whole municipality!)looks
like NYC:s younger brother, younger in terms of skyscrapers at least.
And stumbling across a building like this…

…almost make the NYC illusion complete (Empire State Building anyone?)
Anyhow, Chongqing is a real boom town, the city is scattered with skyscrapers
and it’s density is only beaten by Brasilian cities. For anyone interested
here is where it’s located at(don’t worry I will soon get to the skyscraper-kind-a-point):

So, what’s going down in Chongqing? Alot! Over thirty skyscrapers is
currently under construction(as of Feb 15 2007) and two of them qualifies
as 300 + buildings(985 ft). The Chuanjiang Fanying is almost climbing
the 400 level with it’s 398 m (1306 ft) and upon completion will it
take over the tallest title in Chongqing by surpassing current tallest
Chongqing World Trade Center by 115 m(377 ft). Unfortunately I can’t
find any images of this tower as the Chinese tend to be quite mysterious
about their projects but according to many good resources such as Emporis
has it already climbed 20 floors!
